Wimborne History Festival 2021

A FREE family friendly Living History event celebrating the late 1700s and early 1800s.

A two-day, 200 year journey back in time to Georgian Wimborne. Learn about military life, crime and punishment and Wimborne’s smuggling past through live demonstrations and re-enactments, displays and with children’s activities on Minster Green.

Wander around Wimborne over the two days between 10 – 5 p.m. and be transported back in time with fascinating static displays, talks and encampments with timetabled arena activities. Wimborne Square will be our Smuggling zone where you will be able to discover more about Dorset’s smuggling past through a fantastic 27ft Smuggling boat and meet Wimborne’s celebrated smuggler Isaac Gulliver. At Allendale House you can enter the world of the middle classes and learn about the costumes, Georgian pastimes, medicine.  At Willow Walk find out about military life during Georgian times through authentic Living History encampments and arena displays. The Museum of East Dorset will have free entry all day with a resident Georgian surgeon on site and other activities. Join us in Wimborne and wander around the following sites and have an authentic Georgian experience.
