At Quatre Bras : ‘ In the second charge a shell burst right on the Colours ,took some silk of the Regimental Colour away …..M’Conchy , who held the Colour was only slightly wounded’ (Swiney Regimental History 32nd) Later severely wounded at Waterloo.

Born County Antrim 1791, purchased Ensigncy in the 32nd Jan 1813. Served South of France Mar to Jul 1814 , Belgium and France April to Dec 1815. Lieutenant 20th July 1815, half pay May 1817 on the reduction of the regiment, appointed Lieutenant in 58th Regt June 1818 by paying the difference but was again placed on half pay on the reduction of that regiment.

In July 1820 he was appointed Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment without purchase, transferring to the 48th Regt in Mar 1824 again without purchase.
